W.A Cooke & Sons have recently completed the design, fabrication & assembly of 2 skid mounted vessels & pipework.
This fabrication was commissioned to replace the Air Dissolving Vessels for an existing Dissolved Air Flotation based wastewater treatment plant for a food production customer.
Combining the in-house capabilities of both our steel fabrication (W.A Cooke & Sons) and our wastewater treatment (Watermark Projects) divisions we were able to provide a complete service including a bespoke design resulting in zero on-site modifications to the existing DAF systems.

On Friday 29th June, W.A Cooke & Sons held our annual company party.
Building on from last year we had a fantastic turnout with over 32 staff members joining us for the day. This included our Engineering, Site Services and Watermark Projects divisions from both our Manchester and Cambridgeshire sites.
Once again, Crown Green Bowling was the sport of choice. With teams picked, we took to the green.
In keeping with the ongoing World Cup, the early group stage offered some of the toughest games with there being no clear favourite throughout. So close was it in fact that 3 teams were eliminated on goal difference alone (with a 10-0 defeat proving key to one particular team ).
The quarter finals however left the victors of the group stage with little time to celebrate and quickly saw a further 4 teams knocked out of the running.
Following a well earned break for a nutritional boost of Pizza & Chips the remaining athletes made their way back to the green to determine the finalists. While all 4 teams proved that they deserved to have made it as far as they did, only two teams could make it to the final and an epic semi final saw the wheat separated from the chaff and the finalists decided.
FINALISTS – Michelle Knowles & Mark Exley VS Gav Herrington & Aaron Harris
With a hushed crowd the two teams took to the green.
With a whole year of being able to lord victory over the rest of the competitors at stake a cautious start was expected by all however, one team made the bold decision to break for victory straight out of the gate. Team Knowles & Exley played to their strength….that being Michelle’s ability to win all the points and carry her team to a clear and, frankly brutal, victory over team Herrington & Harris with a final score of 8-2.
Thanks to everyone for coming and making it a fantastic day!
Until next year sports fans…

Gardeners Bowling Club – 12 Hour Charity Bowling Marathon!
The Gardeners Bowling Club will be holding their annual charity bowling marathon at the Gardeners Arms in Atherton on Saturday 4th of August and will run from 8am to 8pm.
Every year the club hosts a sponsored marathon of crown green bowling where participants play for an epic 12 hours! The club members will not only play against each other but welcome anyone who wants to participate to come down and challenge their chosen player.
All proceeds from the event are donated to the chosen charity, this year being:
Cancer Research UK & The Children of Karen Ainscough
Our very own Stuart Hesleden (Watermark Projects Installation & Services Manager) will be joining the champions of the green so any support we generate for the event from the W.A Cooke & Sons & Watermark Projects customers, suppliers and partners would be fantastic.
Just follow the link below to the events Go Funds Me page.
All donations welcome and greatly appreciated!

On Friday 15th of September W.A Cooke & Sons held our 2017 company party. The event is a great opportunity for our Engineering, Site Services & Watermark Projects divisions to come together. While not everyone could make it, we had a great turnout with 22 people attending.
This years event….Crown Green Bowling!
With breakfast had and teams picked we took to the green-
Right from the off there were some clear favourites (funnily enough not those who’d been bragging about how they were North West’s Regional Champion 5 years running “back in the day”…) with 2 teams finishing the group stages without a single loss!
The knockout stage quickly whittled the teams down and saw the top 4 head in to the Semi-Finals!
Semi Final Fixtures:
Billy Cooke & Mark Exley VS Simon Cooke & Marcin Syrek
Jeremy Cooke & Liam Kelly VS Alistair Fielding & Colin Hadfield
With his eye firmly on the prize Simon had no reservations about beating his son Billy with a 7-4 victory to see his team through to the finals while Jeremy & Liam showed their true form with a whopping 8-2 win against their opponents.
Jeremy Cooke & Liam Kelly VS Simon Cooke & Marcin Syrek
In an epic battle, equal only to that of the titans vs the olympians, the finals saw both teams perform admirably, heading into the last end drawing at 4-4.
However, there can only be one winner and, keeping to his usual form Liam put his team in a great position with an early point in the final end but it was Jeremy Cooke’s signature ricochet shot that secured a 2-0 win meaning a 6-4 triumph overall.
Thanks to everyone for coming and making it a fantastic day!

W.A Cooke & Sons (Site Services) Ltd have endured a very busy and productive 2016 so far. After achieving placement on the United Utilities Contractor Framework Agreement, we have developed a positive and proactive relationship together, working towards modernising local water treatment services and booster establishments throughout the North West.
Working alongside our long standing customer, Hydro Intl, we are now part way through the development of the Oswestry clean water treatment plant. The project includes the installation and assembly of a state of the art scraper system and a large number of vertical filters for the purpose built concrete tank.
The long term installation project is due for completion by the end of November 2016.
