Welcome to W.A. Cooke & Sons
W.A. Cooke and Sons is a long established, family run engineering company specialising in all forms of steel fabrication.
We operate from two locations, our Manchester works which also houses our head office and our Cambridgeshire works. Both are suitable for Mild Steel and Stainless Steel fabrication.
We work very closely with a short list of approved suppliers to offer a complete service allowing us to provide excellent quality control for all of our projects.
We have coded welders working to qualified procedures in MIG, MMA and TIG and are ISO 9001 accredited. We are also well underway with achieving the 'CE Accreditation' (BSEN1090-1&2 and BSEN-ISO3834-3) for Europe wide quality assurance for structural Engineering.
Our site installation company, W.A.Cooke & Sons Site Services Ltd is managed from our Manchester office and installs, refurbishes, services and maintains equipment all over the UK and abroad.
Manufacturing is a huge part of our business and it is essential that we always strive for quality, our skilled welders, platers and machine operators in Manchester and Ely do a great job keeping up our excellent reputation. We fabricate and machine bespoke engineering products for a range of different industries from small and intricate items to full machines that sometimes require radical thought to get them out of the building.view case studies
Pre-assembly in the workshop sometimes saves time and money. If something doesn't fit, we can bring it to the clients attention and work with them to correct the error before it gets to site. W. A. Cooke & Sons skilled fitters are comfortable working to fine tolerances setting up bearings, couplings and gearboxes into a full machine assembly.view case studies
We have found that our ability to handle a full project from site measurement, through design, fabrication, machining, painting, assembly, testing, delivery, installation and finally to commissioning is attractive to many of our clients. Unlike dealing with a string of different contractors that need to interface with each other, there are no grey areas around 'which company is responsible for what'. We take full responsibility from start to finish.view case studies
Due to the constant request from many of our customers, we have now joined forces with experienced engineers who have specialised in Water and Waste Water Treatment plant design for over 25 years. This now gives us the opportunity to offer our customers a complete package including onsite advice, design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of all their industrial waste treatment plant needs. To back up our knowledge in this field we have produced a complete trailer mounted Dissolved Air Flotation Pilot trial effluent treatment plant with chemical dosing, pH control and coagulant dosing for industrial waste water treatment. This can be taken to your site to undertake pilot studies or give coverage of treatment while a new plant is being manufactured. Whilst our DAF unit will remove suspended solids and reduce COD and BOD, we can also offer onsite chemical treatment feasibility studies, balance tanks, pre-screening, pump skids, etc.view case studies

The flood gates are designed for quick and easy closing with vandelproof protection when open. They come in a range of colours to suit the environment.view case studies
We have a sister company called Handrail-Mesh Ltd and together we can make full staircases and platforms of any shape and complexity, complete with full mesh infill panels. The mesh panels are bespoke and can be made to any requirements. We are the cheapest in the UK and we also have our site installation team if they were needed. The website www.handrail-mesh.co.uk has a handy cost calculator, which allows you to enter the details of your required mesh, panel by panel, and it will quote you an approximate price. If you don't have time, ring Billy and he will price it for you.view case studies
